About this Offering
Shergaon’s forests and surrounding habitats offer opportunities to explore the region’s birdlife and other wildlife. Birdwatching encourages visitors to observe nature carefully, recognise different species, and understand the relationship between wildlife and healthy ecosystems.
The experience could include guided birdwatching walks, identification using field guides and binoculars, listening to bird calls, and recording observations. Depending on the season and location, visitors may also learn about other wildlife and the importance of maintaining undisturbed habitats.
This proposed experience is informed by the naturalist training programme conducted by WTI and Garung Thuk, with support from the Royal Enfield Social Mission and Felis through the Forgotten Cats of Shergaon project. The March 2025 training included birdwatching, biodiversity documentation, nature interpretation, and training for local youth and homestay owners.
Garung Thuk and WTI have documented collaboration in naturalist training and wildlife conservation. Local guides and photographers may participate where confirmed.
Visitor Guidelines: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Visitors must maintain a safe distance, avoid disturbing nests, and follow restrictions on photography and access.
